Attorney Chris Wheaton

Background
Chris Wheaton is an experienced attorney with 30 years of experience in criminal law. He has worked as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney and understands the inner workings of the criminal justice system. Chris has a history of helping clients through extremely trying times. Chris understands the challenges that come with being charged with a crime and has the knowledge to guide his clients through the process.
Education
Chris grew up in the area and attended North Central College in Naperville after graduating from Palatine High School. He then attended IIT/Chicago Kent College of Law and earned his J.D. in 1990.
Legal Career
After graduating from law school and passing the Bar Exam Chris was hired by the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office where he served as a criminal prosecutor. Chris handled every kind of criminal case from minor traffic tickets to capital murder cases. Chris tried some of the most notorious cases in the State of Illinois.
In 1997 Chris started his own law firm and concentrated on criminal defense.
Teaching
Chris also started teaching and coaching at North Central College on a part-time basis. For a number of years he taught Sport Law and Leadership, Ethics and Values in Athletics, two of the most popular classes at the school. He also was a coach on the nationally renowned track and cross-country teams at North Central.
Chris’s professional and life experiences make him uniquely qualified to assist clients through the ever changing and complex legal system. Chris will always be a strong advocate for his clients and will fight to protect their rights.
