Ms. Mencini is a native of New York State. She moved to Illinois where she attended and graduated from Fenton High School in Bensenville.After high school, Ms. Mencini attended Lake Forest College as a Richter Scholar. She graduated with a B.A. in English. After graduating, Ms. Mencini was retained by GMI Software, Inc. in Chicago. While working at GMI Software, Inc., Ms. Mencini attended DePaul University where she earned an M.A. in Writing. While continuing to work at SunGard Futures Systems as Vice- President of Documentation, Training, and Quality Assurance, (the successor to GMI Software, Inc.), Ms. Mencini attended Chicago-Kent College of Law. At Chicago-Kent, Ms. Mencini was the Managing Editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review. She was also a finalist in the College's Moot Court Competition. Ms. Mencini was the recipient of numerous scholarships from groups including the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers,the Northwest Suburban Bar Association, and the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Ms. Mencini graduated from Chicago-Kent in the top 13% of her class. Ms. Mencini has had two articles published, Internet Road Shows: Oral or Written prospectus Under the Securities Act of 1933, in the ILLINOIS BAR JOURNAL (co-author, January 2002) and New Technology Raises a New Question: What is the Definition of a Broker-Dealer? in the CORPORATION, SECURITIES & BUSINESS LAW FORUM (March 2003). In the area of pro bono work, Ms. Mencini was a volunteer with the Midwest Immigrant and Human Rights Center.
